  1. How can i watch the 3D specials on my ps3? I have a 3D TV and was wondering how to encode them so that they play on my ps3.

    • There are several ways to have it play on your PS3 (including watching it with no loss of quality) but some are complicated so I’ll instead present the simplest way most users play downloaded video files on the PS3.

If you have a Mac, simple go to this website and download their program which I normally use
      http://www.nullriver.com/products/medialink
It will convert the 1080p or 720p mkv file to be PS3 compatible and stream it live (through wi-fi) to your PS3 to watch in HD–there will be some quality loss since it’s being converted but most users don’t mind.

If you have a PC, go to this website and download this program,
      http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/
Admittedly it is not the most user friendly program (from my experience) and you will have to tweak several settings and such for your PS3 to recognize but at least it’s free. It works just like “Mac MediaLink for PS3″ mentioned above but its technically more complicated to operate.

There are other ways which I can mention if you want but these are easiest for most users to understand and implement.

Once you have the movie or show playing on your 3D TV, simply use your HDTV’s 3d settings to indicate that it’s a “3D Move With Opposite Frames” and it will “merge” the opposing frames together–thus creating a 3d experience which most likely requires the 3d glasses that came with your TV ^_^

      • So thats how it works, truth be told i wont actually have my TV till January but was curious as to how the video will work after converting it.XD Thanks for clearing that up for me.
