In an effort to organize the torrents and make sure fans are downloading the final versions of our releases, we’re going to start to do what many groups already do; withdraw support for “individual volume” torrents when there is a final (batch) torrent available.
Any outdated torrents will be removed from view on Nyaa if there is a batch available.
In other words, any new search will only show the final batch torrents, not the 10 or 20 that lead up to them.
As a recent example, R-15 has gone from having 19 torrents showing, down to just 3; the complete 1080p, the complete 720p, and the Bonus DVD Collection.
The final, batch torrents usually have any updated and/or patched versions of the files anyway, so downloading an outdated copy doesn’t make sense in the first place.
Hopefully this will help consolidate any seeds as there will be less torrents to choose from while still making all the files available.
This will take a little time to complete. As of this post, there are approx. 650 torrents to go through and check to make sure all the files they contain are in their respective batch before removing/hiding. We will also be double-checking the various batch torrents to try and ensure they do indeed have the most up to date files in them.
FYI: Torrent clients/programs allow you so select which files to download so you can just “uncheck” any that you don’t want or need.
(Just because a torrent is 20GB and has 30 files and doesn’t mean you have to d/l them all; you can just select and d/l the 1.75GB worth of the 2 files you’re missing.)

good idea honestly i think it will help with seeding
Should of been done long ago but late then never.
I’ve been wondering for a while about that too. How about on distro through DDL? Some fansub groups use DDLAnime as host, as well as many communities.
afaik, we’ve pretty much given up on DDL for the time being except for patches and the occasional OST/PV.

Stop reading here unless you enjoy tl;dl
.
Every filehost out there right now has some issue or another:
~Limiting download speed for free-users to ridiculous levels
~Size limits that just aren’t feasible for BD anime (we’re not going to split every 1GB file into 5 pieces)
~Lack of FTP support for u/l
~(tbh) Lack of “incentive plans”
– As I’ve written before, the payouts per download weren’t much but they at least helped cover the cost of the DDL itself.
Many filehosts require a premium acct. to u/l over a certain size and/or delete files after 30 days for non-premium users. We don’t have the funds to pay extra just for DDL and donations are just that, donations. Hit a month where no one donates and we’d have to pay out-of-pocket.
~Reality. 1) The days of DDL may be over due to stricter enforcement. 2) It would (and did) suk to spend all the time, effort, and bandwidth uploading to something that may or may not last. People seem to forget that most speeds are 10:1 (down:up) so having 20Mbps download still only gives around 2Mbps upload. The average 1080p batch is 10-20GB.
~Alternatives. We already offer XDCC and torrents. We don’t have a seedbox for torrents so lack of seeds is something you’d have to take up with your fellow leechers (and I mean that in the nicest way – no sarcasm intended).
~Bottom Line: The situation may change in the future and we may take up DDL again, but we may not.
Yeah, it was pretty xdcc for me too since MU shutdown. As long as there is xdcc, I think we’re pretty alive. Though it’s always good to have seedboxes for torrents.
On a completely different but related topic….
NICE PICTURE>
Is she from an anime or is it just a pic. If she isn’t from an anime she should be.
99% sure it’s original art from here.
Whether or not she’s based on a character… I nunno
Wow, there are some excellent pics on that site, the girl sitting on the phone box is great.
Yes,this should take place long ago.
Excellent idea, xD
keep it up! ^^
i am onboard with this idea..
it make easier searching for the specific torrent, improve seeding, get the final version of file without need to patching the file again, and easy for you guys too
even better if if you guys post every final batch on bakabt, where the seeding is very good there
The best we can do on bakabt is propose the release. It’s up to the peeps if they’ll prefer Kira over others if there are parallel series releases. It’s best if Kira can have their dedicated seedbox though.
What will you guys do when the Copyright Alert System or CISPA happen?
That’s a non-question.
First off, both are just US concepts and only one of the two would even be a law (assuming it passes.. see SOPA/PIPA for how they did last time they tried).
~CAS (if adopted) isn’t a law; it’s just ISPs giving lip-service and covering their collective hineys. “Six strikes and maybe we’ll limit your speed” Oooo, scary.
~CISPA came out of its committee back in December and they haven’t even discussed it yet, never mind voted on it. There’s talk it’ll be re-written anyway to focus on the real “Cyber Intelligence” (think terrorism, etc.) and limit its protection of copyrighted (copywritten?) materials to things like corporate secrets and whatnot.
.
We don’t host any of our releases in the US so neither directly apply to us and torrents are worldwide – you can’t shut down a torrent, just the trackers for them.
.
The real question is: What will you do if they pass?
Have you gone online to sign any petitions against these two offerings?
Have you written or called your Congressional officials to say you oppose them?
Remember, when they come for you, it may be too late.
(Historical metaphor about sitting around and doing nothing since the “laws” are aimed at the “the other guys” anyway.)
I have done both of those things and my plan to get anime for free if I can’t download anymore is to use whatever working streams I can find and use a screen capture program.
